Delve into your pantry and pull out a packet of corn chips and a jar of blackberry conserve. Load a few of the chips with jam and sprinkle over chilli. Tuck in a serviette to protect against splatter and crunch away.

South Australia’s diverse micro-climates and distinct growing regions give the state its unique ability to produce an extraordinary variety of food and wine.

Fancy A Long Lunch Amongst The Vines?
Truly a picturesque little slice of paradise in the heart of the McLaren Vale region, with a rustic charm, but fitted out with modern Scandi’ furniture, fresh flowers, and plenty of glass showing off the lush lawns, lime trees and vineyards.

The National Good Food Guide 2018 - Award Winner
The Currant Shed has been awarded a prestigious Chef's Hat at the inaugural National Good Food Guide Awards - the only establishment from McLaren Vale to do so.
"Relaxed country dining looking over a lush lawn and lime grove. "We have a small problem," says the waiter at this smart-casual diner hidden among McLaren Vale vines. "We have too many limes. When you leave today, it would be wonderful if you could pick as many from our trees as you can use at home." Fair enough. It would be selfish not to. The kitchen already makes delicious use of the citrus surplus in a lime tart fancied up with Italian meringue and toasted coconut - spruced comfort like this is the restaurant's modus operandi. Mussels fried in sourdough-starter batter join forces with bite-sized bits of leatherjacket cheek, parsnip chips and crisp onion, while confit pork jowl is roasted to order and given purpose in life with konbu emulsion, fennel fronds and fresh orange. For pure footy-socks-in-front-of-the-fire warmth, quail schnitzel is served in a broth of its bones and mushroom, topped with pickled daikon and fried curry leaves. Linger over a whisky in the light-filled dining room and don't forget your limes on the way out."

IT’S one of the unfortunate vagaries of seasonality that limes are at their best and cheapest when the need for Thai salads and gin and tonics has started to taper off.
